A Deep Autumn, also known as a Dark Autumn has deep richness and looks great in tones that have depth of color, darkness, and richness in them. The Deep Autumn has noticeable contrast between features of hair, skin, and eyes (meaning that there is small amount of variation between the darkness or lightness for that matter of these features).
Most Deep Autumn's have dark features with the light of warmth -- such as dark hair, golden brown or dark brown eyes, and warm skin. A Deep Autumn may also have warm chestnut hair or reddish brown hair.
The season conjures up the colors, textures, and vibe of a park or a forest walk with the change of seasons. There is warm light, deep colors, like reds, oranges, natural greens, and midnight blue. The leaves may even show a blend of these colors showing eggplant, coral, and warm browns.
As a Deep Autumn, don't make the mistake of wearing white! Your color season is warm, not cool. So even though you look good in colors that have depth, avoid wearing bright white or dark black next to your face as it will wash your warmth away.
Ok, onto the patterns that are best for you!
Pay no attention to the complexion, hair, or eye color of the women in these photos as they do not necessarily represent the color season. Pay more attention to the clothing as these are the colors, textures, and patterns that look best on a Deep Autumn.
1. Large Geometric Stripes (Varsity Look)
This look is sexy and girlish. It's also a bit preppy/yuppy and fresh. If you can find large stripes in the Deep Autumn color season, this is a very chic look.
2. Earthy Paisley
Paisley is everywhere and can look cheap if not done well or in the right colors. Choose a paisley pattern with high depth earth tones.
3. Color Blocking
The Deep Autumn looks great with some color blocking efforts. Just make sure your colors map to the Deep Autumn Color Palette.
4. Boho
Boho can look good on any color season, but it especially looks good on a Deep Autumn. Keep your greens as close to shades of olive as you can and opt for larger patterns.
5. Geometric Animal Print (Larger Print)
Animal print can be tough to make look classy, but you've got this! The trick is choosing an animal print that's large enough and has the right tones. In this case, the pattern is more of a geometric animal print.
6. Large Floral
Floral is usually a thing to avoid on a Deep Autumn, but we love this example because it shows that you can wear the deeper colors of the season in a way almost looks abstract or geometric. Just steer clear of dresses or tops with patterns that have a lot of black or stark white in them.
7. High Depth Sweater
More of a texture than a pattern, but hey! This chocolate color is beautiful on a Deep Autumn and the ribbed texture is also nice as a Deep Autumn tends to look good in muted fabrics vs. fabrics with sheen or shine.
8. Monochrome
Oh yes! Eggplant and garnet really work the complexion of a Deep Autumn. And monochrome makes you look elegant and put together.
9. Textured Velvet
The shadowy nature of this fabric is reminiscent of the shadows created by the light and the season change between Summer and Autumn. It's mysterious and strong, just like a Deep Autumn!
10. Pleated Flowing Skirt
Confession: I think everyone should own a pleated ballerina skirt. It gives royal or dancer vibes, while adding dimension. And these colors are perfect for the Autumn season.
